'Disorder' concerns negative representations and perceptions of neurodiversity and mental illness within society. It subverts the microscope as an objective scientific medium, a protest against the pathological paradigm over championing neurodiversity. The images are intentionally abstract and ‘glitch-like’ to reflect how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and represented within society, particularly in the pathological field. The project aims to highlight the beauty within neurodiversity and encourage empowerment and destigmatisation. For this project, I create a zine of the images, a short experimental film, and a number of installations using the microscope and projector, also distorting the light from the projection using mirrors.
